Glass Hearts
Glass hearts for a headstone are made by hand from kiln-fired glass, in three kinds. Transparent hearts of coloured glass are set into a window cut through the stone slab, so that light passes through the glass. Split hearts are two transparent halves, set into one slab or into two neighbouring slabs. Opaque hearts, with a coloured pattern or made of crushed glass, cover the stone and can be glued onto the slab or set into it.
