Kiln-fused glass
The glass is fired in a kiln until it fuses into a single body, which gives each piece its shape, its thickness and a pattern of its own.
Two halves
The heart consists of two separate halves divided by a zigzag line; the price is for the set.
Transparent glass
The coloured glass lets light through – set into a window cut right through the tablet, it glows with colour.
Set into the tablet
The halves are set into a window cut right through the stone – in one tablet or in two, left and right.
Purple split glass heart with bubbles for a headstone
The purple split glass heart with bubbles for a headstone is a memorial decoration made of two halves separated by a zigzag line. Air bubbles are sealed inside the dark, purple-plum glass and sparkle in the light. The halves are made by hand from transparent kiln-fused glass and are designed to be set into the granite tablet, in a window cut right through it.
Product description
The heart consists of two separate halves about 15 mm thick. Each one is made by hand in our workshop from kiln-fused glass, so the pattern of the glass differs slightly from piece to piece. The glass is transparent, which is why the heart is set into a window cut right through the stone tablet — light then passes through the glass and brings out its colour.
The halves can be set into a single tablet or into two neighbouring tablets, left and right, one half in each. A gap of about 1 cm is left between them along the line of the break.
The heart comes in one version and 4 sizes, from 15 × 12 to 30 × 24 cm (width and height of the two halves together). In some cases we can make it in other, bespoke dimensions to suit a particular stonemason’s workshop.

How long does it take to make a heart?
A glass heart for a headstone usually takes three to six weeks to make, depending on the format and on how much work the glass needs.
Is the heart transparent?
Yes. The split heart is made of transparent coloured glass that lets light through. That is why it is not bonded onto the stone but set into a window cut right through the tablet.
Does the price include both halves?
Yes. The price is for the set, that is, both halves of the heart. The set is sent by courier.
How is the split glass heart mounted?

Yes. From a technical drawing you send us we can make a circle, a cross, decorative strips or any other shape.
Work like this is prepared together with the stonemason’s workshop and is quoted individually every time.
