Glass cross for a headstone

An asymmetric cross in fused glass, fixed straight onto the stone tablet of the memorial. Blue glass behaves differently from the warm colours: on an overcast day it stays quiet and cool, and in sunlight it takes on a depth close to stained glass. It sits well with light and grey granites.

The cross is made from fused glass with a hand-worked decorative pattern. The colours chosen and the texture of the glass make the surface catch the sunlight, so the colours become more intense and the decoration gains a pronounced depth.

Features of the glass cross

The asymmetric cross is made by hand in our own workshop, using glass fusing. Firing in the kiln gives each piece its shape, its size and a character of its own.

The decorative face of the cross is coloured and finished by hand, so the pattern stays clearly visible and holds its strong colour. The glass is opaque, so the pattern stays crisp and the stone tablet behind the cross does not show through.

This cross is bonded in place with a flexible MS-polymer adhesive — either straight onto the face of the stone tablet, or seated first in a recess cut into it. We do not build it in between two stone tablets.

The glass crosses come in several standard sizes, to suit headstone tablets 60 cm wide in a range of heights. That makes it easy for a memorial mason to choose the right size for a particular headstone design.

Every cross can also be made to an individual size, to suit the design and requirements of the memorial.
