A glass strip to decorate a headstone is an elegant decorative element for memorials and gravestones. It is made from clear glass fused in a special kiln. The strip has its own shape, a hand-painted pattern and a deep colour that gives every memorial character and a look of its own.

The glass strip is made of clear, fused glass, which is what makes it possible to give the piece the right shape and size. Each strip is made by hand in our workshop, with its own pattern and colour, so that the decoration shows very clearly – and at the same time the glass is not transparent and does not let light through.
That is why it can be made one-sided, to be bonded onto the stone tablet with a flexible adhesive, or two-sided (two strips joined), which shows the pattern beautifully from the front and from the back of the memorial once it is set into a tablet prepared for it.
The strip comes in several standard sizes, and to order we can make the decoration in bespoke dimensions, matched to the needs of a particular memorial mason.

How long does a glass strip for a headstone take to make?
A glass strip for a headstone usually takes three to six weeks to make, depending on the format and on how much work the glass needs.
Is the strip transparent?
No. The strip is not transparent. On the inside it carries a painted colour pattern, which takes away its transparency and, once the strip is bonded to the memorial, hides the stone tablet behind it.
Will the piece be sent by courier?
Yes. We send strips by courier in a purpose-made foam container that protects even the large formats from damage.
How is a decorative strip fixed to a headstone?
How it is fixed depends on the design of the memorial. The glass panel can be:
bonded on with a suitable adhesive, or
set (built in) between stone tablets.
Whichever method you choose, use materials that absorb the stresses that build up at low temperatures, such as flexible adhesives.
Can you make the decoration in another shape?
Yes. From a technical drawing you send us we can make a circle, a cross, a decorative heart or any other shape.
Work like this is prepared together with the memorial mason and is quoted individually every time.
