Glass Memorial Plaque – Large Black-and-White Photo

The main glass plaque for the headstone, featuring a traditional black-and-white photo of the deceased together with their personal details, forms the central element of the memorial, completely replacing the classic stone slab. Made of ultra-white OptiWhite tempered glass, it stands out for its elegant, timeless aesthetic and excellent clarity of detail and inscriptions. Each design is created individually based on the photo provided, with careful attention to a faithful likeness of the portrait and the correct placement of personal details.

The Process of Creating Your Memorial Plaque

Ordering a glass memorial plaque is simple and straightforward. Together with your monumental mason, you can determine the plaque’s dimensions, allowing extra space for fitting it into the base.

Next, you choose the colour version (black-and-white or colour), provide the personal details to appear on the plaque, and send a few good-quality photos.

We can also include religious symbols in the design. Based on the materials you send us, we select the most suitable photo and carry out any necessary retouching to prepare it for printing. The finished design is then sent to you for approval. Once approved, we begin production of the glass plaque and arrange delivery to the monumental mason of your choice.

Based on the agreed dimensions, we prepare an individual quote, which is then included in the total cost of the memorial.

How to Choose a Photo for Your Memorial Plaque?

Please make sure that the photos you send are clear and taken from a short distance. Photographs showing the person from the waist up work best.

We recommend sending several photos, which allows us to choose the most suitable shot. If there are any quality issues with the photograph, we can digitally retouch or restore it, while preserving a natural and dignified likeness.

Frequently Asked Questions – Good to Know

How long does it take to complete the plaque?

The total time to complete a glass memorial plaque is usually 4 to 5 weeks, depending on the time needed for design preparation, production, and delivery logistics.

How is the plaque attached to the memorial?

Typically, a large plaque with a total thickness of at least 20 mm is fitted into the lower base prepared by the monumental mason, to a depth of at least 10 cm. However, the mason may use a different, individually chosen method of installation.

What size can I choose?

The smallest available format is 21 × 30 cm. The largest size can be 100 × 150 cm or more; however, for a large plaque replacing a traditional stone slab, we recommend choosing a format between 50 × 60 and 60 × 100 cm. The final dimensions depend on the design prepared by the monumental mason and are agreed individually, together with a matching quote.

Does the plaque have to include personal details?

No. All elements, such as the details of the deceased, dates, or religious symbols, are agreed individually depending on the design. They can be placed on the glass plaque itself or elsewhere on the memorial — directly engraved or applied as metal letters.

What type of printing do we use?

All our work is produced using ceramic printing technology, in which the pigment is fired in a kiln and permanently fused into the structure of the glass. This makes the image exceptionally resistant to weather conditions, UV radiation, and mechanical damage.

Will the item be sent by courier?

Smaller formats are shipped using standard courier delivery, as part of our returnable packaging system. For larger formats, it is necessary to use a dedicated logistics company, which ensures the plaque is properly protected against damage during transport. The cost of delivery depends on the location of the monumental mason and the logistics company’s quote, and is invoiced separately.

Can we make the plaque in an irregular shape?

Yes. Based on a technical drawing you provide, we can produce a plaque with an irregular shape, for example with an arch or a rounded edge.

Solutions of this kind are always agreed in cooperation with the monumental mason and included in the individual quote.

Where Are Memorial Plaques Used?

Memorial plaques with a photo are most commonly used on single and
double memorials, as well as on cremation memorials — either as the main
plaque or as an additional commemorative plaque placed on a granite
cushion or stand.
